Speaker: Ferdinando Boero
Born in Genoa in 1951, he works on marine biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, sustainability, philosophy of science and science communication. He has taught at the University of Genoa, the University of Salento and currently at the University of Naples Federico II. He is affiliated with the National Research Council and the Stazione Zoologica of Naples. He has spent extended research periods in various parts of the world, from Papua New Guinea to California. He has published four popular science books on: Beauty, Religion, Economy, and The Pee of Dogs. He even named a jellyfish after Frank Zappa — Phialella zappai — and in return, Zappa dedicated a song to him: Lonesome Cowboy Nando.
